What is a Registered Dietitian?
A Registered Dietitian is a food and nutrition expert who has met the academic and professional requirements to qualify for the nationally recognized credential “RD”. In addition to RD credentialing, many states including Washington, have regulatory laws for dietitians.
Dietitians study a variety of subjects, ranging from food and nutrition science, research methods, business, food service systems management, culinary arts, sociology, and communication, to science courses such as biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, disease processes, and organic chemistry.
Continuing professional education is required to maintain registration.
